The Pottsville Crimson Tide emerged victorious over the Minersville Battlin' Miners, securing a hard-fought 50-43 win and claiming another Schuylkill League title.
The game began as a tight contest, with Minersville taking an early 7-6 lead with 4:35 left in the first quarter. However, Pottsville quickly responded, grabbing an 8-7 advantage with just over three minutes remaining. The Battlin' Miners reclaimed the lead at 10-8 with under two minutes to play, but Pottsville finished the quarter strong, holding a 14-10 advantage at the buzzer.
Pottsville maintained control heading into halftime, leading 24-18.
The Crimson Tide stretched their lead to 31-21 with 5:09 left in the third quarter, but Minersville refused to go down without a fight. By the 1:05 mark, the Battlin' Miners had stormed back to cut the deficit to just two points at 33-31. However, Pottsville held onto a narrow 35-33 lead heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Pottsville pulled away, outscoring Minersville down the stretch to secure the 50-43 championship win. This victory marks another milestone in the Crimson Tide’s storied basketball history in the Schuylkill League.
Both teams will now shift their focus to the District XI Tournament. Pottsville enters as the top-ranked team in the Class 5A bracket, while Minersville holds the No. 2 ranking in Class 3A.
