Suzanne "Sue" O’Neill
, 73, of Gordon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27th at Providence Place in Pottsville.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Edgar and Gloria (Anderson) Bechtel. Sue was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ashland.

Sue was a 1969 graduate of Pottsville High School. After graduation, she attended Penn State University receiving a bachelor’s degree in Education.

Sue worked for North Schuylkill High School as an Art Teacher until her retirement. She was elected as the mayor of Gordon and also to the North Schuylkill School District School Board, where she served for many years.

Sue was an avid animal lover and also volunteered at the Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spent many summers vacationing in Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. O’Neill in 2008.

Sue is survived by her son, Sean O’Neill and his wife Kelsey of Gordon; her siblings: David (Alice) Bechtel, Pottsville; Ginger (Jim) Bartol, Pottsville; Barbara Bechtel, Gordon; Alicia Vadyak, Gordon; Kristine Bechtel (Tommy Higgins), Pottsville; Kimberly (Jonathan) Weinstock, Chester, VA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 6th from St. John’s Episcopal Church, N. 13th St &, Market St, Ashland with her nephew, Rev. David Bechtel officiating. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held Thursday morning at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow the service at Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Sue’s name, to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA PO Box 332 Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.

Helen I Bixler
, age 89, of Hegins, passed away peacefully Friday, February 28, 2025 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born on Monday, June 24, 1935, in Klingerstown, a daughter of the late Raymond E Engle and the late Iva L (Erdman) Engle.

Helen worked for Michael Foods, Klingerstown prior to her retirement..

She was a member of Salem Church of Rough and Ready.

Helen enjoyed quilting, gardening, taking weekend trips, watching her beloved Phillies, and spending time with her family.

Her husband, H Eugene Bixler passed away in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Russell Engle.

She is survived by two daughters, Dawn M Wright of Hegins and Susan M (Carl) Adams of Klingerstown; two sons, Robert E (Jessica) Bixler of Klingerstown and Gary W (companion Zoey Zimmerman) Engle of Sacramento; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a brother, Marlin Engle of Halifax; two sisters, Marie Fetterolf of Martinsburg, WV and Carol (Donald) Long of Berrysburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View, on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Curits Zemencik officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Charles B. Gillott Sr.
, 87, of Lake Hauto, passed away Thursday afternoon at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in McAdoo, he was the son of the late Bernard and Margaret (Logar) Gillott.

Charles was a faithful member of the Church of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua.

He was a Korean War veteran and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

Prior to retiring, Charles was employed as an electrical mechanic at Mack Truck, Allentown, for over 31 years.

He was a dedicated member of the McAdoo VFW Post 6708, their Honor Guard, and the McAdoo Fire Co.

Charles was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and many fishing trips to Canada with his grandson, Ian.

Preceding him in death were his brother Bernard Gillott and wife Joan; and sister Rosemary Worrell.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Sylvia (Lozosky) Gillott; son, Charles B. Gillott Jr. and wife Linda, Cape Coral, FL; daughter, Charlene O’Donnell and husband James, Freeland; sons, Robert Gillott and wife Dawn, Weatherly; and David Gillott and wife Lisa, McAdoo; stepson, David Bozosi and partner Barbara, Clearwater, FL; stepdaughters, Suzie Larson, Palm Harbor, FL; and Cynthia Racho, Nesquehoning; 6 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, March 4. Rev. Robert T. Finlan will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the Church of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick’s R.C. Cemetery, McAdoo.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church hall.

The Damiano Funeral Home, McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Trudy A. Singley
, 48 of Nuremberg passed away early Friday morning, February 28, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Hazleton, December 29, 1976, then raised in Nuremberg, she was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Nuremberg. Trudy was a graduate of Hazleton Area High School in 1994, and continued her studies in Nursing where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed by Lehigh Valley Hospital for 26 years and Providence place for nine years, and for several years was an officer and driver for Nuremberg Community Ambulance Association. She enjoyed her nursing career as well as spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents William E. and Patricia A. (Barron) Singley.

Surviving are sisters, Mary Michael and her husband Harold; Desiree Singley; brothers, William A. and Ryan Singley, all of Nuremberg; eight nieces and nephews, Keana Singley, Marco Lopez, Jason Singley, Dante Singley, Brody Singley, Blake Izaguirre, Chloe Izaguirre, and Greyson Singley and several aunts uncles and cousins.

Her funeral will be held with a memorial service on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 10:00 AM from Haman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, Burial to follow in Nuremberg Cemetery. Friends may call for a visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children's Hospital or the Nuremberg Weston Fire Company.
