Cheryl Ann Carter
, age 66, of Pottsville, PA, passed away on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, at her home.

Born in Pottsville, PA on September 18, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Schenck) McCabe.

She worked at Smoker's Heaven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Arthur James Samuels, son Jared Samuels, and granddaughter Brieze McCabe.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 16 years, Emerson Theodore Carter; her children: Corey McCabe, Christy McCabe, Jamie McCabe, Arthur Hook, Joel Whalen and his wife Kimberly, Kisha Hook, Jeff Whalen, and Justin Whalen and his wife Ashley; twenty-three grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother Robert McCabe; sisters: Patrice Baskerville, Michelle Austerberry, and Ronda McCabe; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon at 7PM on Monday, February 10th, with Rev. Jack Murray officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family Monday evening from 5-7PM at Funeral Home.

Interment will be held private.

Sandra J. Ciccozzi
, 90 years of age, formerly of Arlington Street, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill.

She was the wife of the late Florido "Chico" Ciccozzi, who passed away in 2017.

Born December 3, 1934, in Barnesville, she was the daughter of late Lawrence and Helen (Bridygham) Schappal.

She was a 1952 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School, a 1955 graduate of East Stroudsburg State Teachers College. Sandra received her master’s degree from Bloomsburg University specializing in remedial reading and remedial math. Sandra was a key educator implementing the “Reading Van Pilot Program” sponsored by the state of PA.

Sandra taught elementary education in East Orange, NJ and Gettysburg, PA. Also Blue Mountain, PA from 1960 -1966 and the Tamaqua School District from 1967-1993.

As an educator Sandra loved her students and missed them dearly after retirement calling them her “little people”. She loved and supported her family with all she had, other than that she loved dogs more than she loved most anyone else.

Surviving are her; daughter, Sheryl L. (Boltz) Beltz, companion of Tad Yates. Grandsons: Anthony J. Saullo Jr. and Dominic S. Saullo. Great grandsons and granddaughters also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son Gary Boltz.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7th at 2 pm from the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Friends may call from 1-2 pm at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown, Pennsylvania.

Lena J Gober
, age 87, of Paradise TX, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the home of her daughter in Hegins.

She was born on Sunday, April 25, 1937, in Shannon, TX, a daughter of the late William Y Strickland and the late Addie L (Martin) Strickland.

Lena loved good old country music, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by five daughters, Sandra L (Ralph) Lucht of Hegins, Janet F (Charles) Coleman of North Bend, OR, Phyllis A (Daniel) Thomas of Riddle, OR, Brenda K Houchens of Paradise, TX, and Bernice D (Robert) England of Des Moines, IA; two sons, John D Gober, III of Boyd, TX and Roger E Gober of Paradise, TX; twenty grandchildren; forty eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister, Janis S (Frank) Thompson of Oregon; two brothers, Robert L (Caroline) Strickland of Caldwell, TX and Timothy K Strickland of Caldwell, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Texas.

David W. Klinger Sr., 83, of Gap Street, Valley View, passed away with family at his side, Sunday, February 2, 2025, at his residence. Born in Barry Township, September 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Gurney and Mildred (Moser) Klinger. David was a graduate Tri Valley High School, class of 1959, and was employed as a carpenter with Pine Grove Manufactured Homes of Pine Grove until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Barry Township. Preceding him in death were siblings, Betty Fetterolf, Ernest Klinger, Delbert (Butch) Klinger, Chester (Chet) Klinger, Dennis Klinger, and Ethel Flannery.

His wife of 65 years, Gertrude Kimmel

Son: David Klinger Jr., and his wife Judith, Point of Rocks, Maryland

Son: Jason Klinger, and his wife Jennifer, Newville

Six Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews

Steven J. Brill
, 64, of McAdoo, passed away suddenly Monday at his home.

​Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Harold “Butch” and June (Lane) Brill.

​Steven was a 1979 graduate of Hazleton High School and the Vo-Tech School for Auto-Body.

​Prior to retiring, he was last employed as a high-lift operator at Reynolds Consumer Prod/PACTIV, Humboldt Industrial Park.

​Steven enjoyed hunting, fishing, quading, camping, boating and going to the dirt track races.

​He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and an expert detailer. His love for cars began at a young age working on cars with his dad, with his greatest love being his ’67 Chevelle.

​He was a friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

​Preceding him in death, were his sister, Barbara Schmeer and brother, Michael Brill.

​Surviving are his sisters, Sandra Greenwood and husband Stephen, of Goose Creek, SC; Lisa Waak and husband Stephen, of McAdoo; and Lori Nenstiel and husband Daniel, of Drums; nieces and nephews, Eric and Shaun Greenwood, Tiffany Brill, Mark Schmeer, Justin Ayers, and Haley and Nicholas Waak; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

​A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, at 12 p.m in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 467 Main Street, Conyngham. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, McAdoo.

Thomas C. Marucci
, 62, of Andreas, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025. He was the husband of Cheryl Frantz-Marucci. They were married on April 19, 2008, and celebrated 16 years of marriage. 

He was a 20-year Army veteran. He was also a truck driver for Carlisle Carrier Corp. then Cowan Trucking System LLC, of Baltimore, MD. He was also a CDL Driver Trainer. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late William M. Sr. and Nancy (Kospiah) Marucci. He was a member of Ben Salem UCC, Lehighton, Andreas VFW Post 5069 and the American Legion and a life member of Andreas Sporting Club. He loved traveling the world with his wife and he adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing boardgames, the outdoors, cooking and baking and sharing the food with friends and family. He was an avid fisherman and reader. He was involved with the Valor Clinic, Kunkletown. Thomas loved people and always wanted to please them. He would portray Santa at the Legion and visit the local nursing homes. He could talk to complete strangers as if they were close friends. 

He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Jr. 

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Jenna, wife of Jamie Turner, of Andreas; mother-in-law, Dollie Frantz; and two grandchildren, Liam and Layla Turner. 

Memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 15, at Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Rd., Lehighton, PA 18235. Call 9-11 am at the church. Private interment. Military honor will be administered by the Lehighton UVO. Contributions may be made to the Valor Clinic Foundation, PO Box 315, Brodheadsville, PA 18322, or the church, PO Box 128, Andreas, PA 18211.
