Strong Winds Cause Power Outages Across Schuylkill County

As of early Monday morning, more than 1,600 homes across Schuylkill County remain without power due to strong winds that downed trees and power lines throughout the area.

According to PPL Electric Utilities, approximately 1,644 homes have been affected by outages, with the hardest-hit areas being Minersville and Cass Township, where 1,112 customers are currently without electricity. South Manheim Township has also reported outages, impacting 266 homes, while Norwegian Township has seen 210 homes left in the dark.

Additionally, smaller outages have been reported in several other townships, including:

  • Butler Township
  • East Brunswick Township
  • Hegins Township
  • North Manheim Township
  • Pine Grove Township
  • Wayne Township
  • West Brunswick Township
  • West Penn Township

The widespread outages are a direct result of high winds that swept through the region overnight, toppling trees and bringing down power lines. Crews from PPL Electric are actively working to restore service, with a full restoration expected no later than 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
