Andrew Wollyung Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Pottsville

Andrew Wollyung has officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of the City of Pottsville, accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination with a pledge to bring dedication, leadership, and community-driven solutions to City Hall.

At 41 years old, Wollyung says he is no stranger to the challenges and opportunities that Pottsville faces. A graduate of Temple University, he has built a career rooted in both public service and private enterprise. His tenure as a City Council Member and Director of Public Safety has given him direct experience in municipal governance, public safety, and economic development. Beyond politics, he has devoted much of his life to community service, volunteering with the Fire Department, the Lions Club, and other local non-profits.

“I am honored and humbled to accept this nomination,” Wollyung stated. “This campaign is about all of us—our families, our businesses, our safety, and our future. Pottsville deserves a mayor who understands the challenges of running a business and the realities of working on the ground every day.”

Wollyung’s roots in Pottsville run deep. He has played an active role in the city’s business community through his family’s company, Rosenberger Plumbing and Heating, and has also worked as an educator at Schuylkill Technology Center and Upper Bucks Technical School. His extensive experience in firefighting as a longtime member of the Yorkville Hose Fire Department has reinforced his commitment to public safety and emergency preparedness.

Wollyung emphasized his hands-on leadership style, noting that he is not a politician who leads from behind a desk but someone who works alongside residents, first responders, and business owners to understand their needs firsthand.

As the campaign unfolds, Wollyung looks forward to engaging with Pottsville residents, discussing key issues such as economic growth, public safety, and community development.

“I know the struggles of business owners, workers, and first responders—the long hours, the hard decisions, and the sacrifices that come with building something meaningful,” he said. “Together, we can create a stronger, more prosperous Pottsville."
