The long-awaited return of racing at Big Diamond Speedway is just around the corner, with a full slate of events set to launch the 2025 season.
Before the engines roar to life in competition, teams will have an opportunity to fine-tune their setups during an open Practice Day on Sunday, March 30, from noon to 3:00 pm.
Practice Day provides an invaluable chance for drivers to shake down their cars and make necessary adjustments ahead of the season opener. With an extended track time, teams can gather crucial data on car handling, fine-tune setups, and explore different racing lines. For rookie drivers, this session serves as a perfect introduction to the track and a chance to get comfortable behind the wheel in a competitive setting.
Fans are also in for a treat, as grandstand admission is free, allowing them to get a first glimpse of their favorite drivers and cars. Last year’s practice session saw more than 60 teams take advantage of the opportunity, showcasing just how vital this day is to the season’s preparations.
Season Opener – April 4: The Thaw Brawl
The excitement builds just five days after Practice Day with the 53rd Season Opener on Friday, April 4. Dubbed the Thaw Brawl, the event will feature the Quandel Concrete 358 Modifieds battling for a $4053 winner’s purse. The USS Achey 602 Crate Sportsman will compete for a $1053 top prize, while the Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners will race for a $453-to-win feature. Additionally, the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman class will be in action, providing an opportunity for up-and-coming talent to make their mark.
Pit gates will open at 5:00 pm, with grandstands welcoming fans at 5:30 pm. Hot laps will commence at 7:15 pm, followed by heat races determined by a random draw. Pit admission is $35 for Big Diamond Speedway members and $45 for non-members. General admission for adults is $20, with free entry for kids 16 and under.
April 11: Money in the Mountains & Fritz Roehrig Memorial
The action continues the following week with the Money in the Mountains/Fritz Roehrig Memorial/Dunkmen’s Enterprise Night on Friday, April 11. Headlining the event is the Quandel Concrete 358 Modifieds competing in a 50-lap feature with a lucrative $10,000 payout to the winner. Supporting divisions include the USS Achey 602 Crate Sportsman ($1000-to-win), the Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners, and the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman.
