Early Morning Fire in Mahanoy City Ruled Accidental

A fire in Mahanoy City early Thursday has been ruled accidental.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. to a reported house fire at 702 East Mahanoy Street. Upon arrival, the first responding chief confirmed a working fire, prompting a second alarm for additional manpower.

The fire spread to at least three homes—702, 704, and 706 East Mahanoy Street. Fortunately, none of the affected properties were occupied at the time. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames, bringing the fire under control by 1:20 a.m.

Investigators have ruled the fire accidental, determining that it started on the second floor of 704 East Mahanoy Street. The home was believed to be undergoing renovations at the time.

Although the damaged homes were vacant, the American Red Cross is assisting four residents from 700 East Mahanoy Street,
