Frank DiMarco Announces Candidacy for Schuylkill County Sheriff

Police officer and small business owner Frank DiMarco has officially announced his candidacy for the office of Schuylkill County Sheriff.

DiMarco will be seeking the Republican nomination in the upcoming primary election on May 20.

A resident of Walker Township and a graduate of Tamaqua High School, DiMarco says he brings 28 years of experience in law enforcement. After graduating from the Reading City Police Academy in 1997, he served full-time with the Saint Clair Police Department, where he is now retired. However, he remains an active officer with the Blythe Township Police Department. In addition to his career in law enforcement, DiMarco owns and operates an auto repair business in New Philadelphia.

Throughout his career, DiMarco says he has worked in various capacities, including investigating and prosecuting crimes such as narcotics offenses, thefts, and assaults. His experience also includes handling civil matters, crash investigations, and educating the public on firearms safety and fraud prevention. Additionally, he has served as a code enforcement officer, working alongside municipalities and attorneys to address serious code violations that impact communities.

DiMarco has pledged to bring full transparency to the Schuylkill County Sheriff’s Office if elected. He has committed to serving as a full-time Sheriff and intends to select a first deputy from within the current active Sheriff’s department. Fiscal responsibility is also a key component of his platform, as he aims to seek grant funding to expand the department’s capabilities without overburdening taxpayers.

A staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, DiMarco has stated his commitment to upholding constitutional rights while also ensuring public safety. He has also outlined plans to support federal agencies such as ICE and the Department of Homeland Security when assistance is required by law.

Among his proposed initiatives is a program to utilize able-bodied inmates from Schuylkill County Prison for community cleanup efforts.

In addressing concerns about gun violence, DiMarco has proposed acquiring a specially trained K9 unit for detecting firearms and explosives. This K9 would be instrumental in securing schools, government buildings, and public events, as well as providing security at the county courthouse. He believes this resource would serve as a deterrent while enhancing safety across the county. The K9 unit would also be used for educational demonstrations in schools.

DiMarco has expressed strong support for first responders and local fire departments, being a member of both the Walker Township and New Ringgold fire companies. Additionally, he is a vocal advocate for veterans and their contributions to the community.
