What started as a lighthearted punishment for a Fantasy Football failure turned into a sweet success story for the Ashland Public Library this past Sunday.
Kieran Connors, a teacher at North Schuylkill, found himself at the bottom of his Fantasy Football League standings this season, earning him the honor of setting up a lemonade stand as part of his league's "last place punishment."
True to his word, Connors embraced the challenge with good humor. Armed with cooler of fresh lemonade, some handmade signs, and a lot of heart, Connors spent two hours pouring drinks for thirsty passersby. His efforts paid off handsomely, raising a $320 for the Ashland Public Library.
Connors laughed. "I'm happy to take the hit for a great cause — but I still blame Slick Ennis for my loss." Ennis being another member of the league.
The league winner, Ricky Fritz also stopped by the support Connors.
Connor's lemonade stand quickly became a social event, as friends, coworkers, and even some of his North Schuylkill students stopped by to support his efforts. With jokes, smiles, and plenty of lemonade to go around, the afternoon felt more like a neighborhood party than a punishment.
While Connors may have finished last in Fantasy Football, his charitable heart has clearly made him a winner in Ashland.
