Penn State Trustees Vote to Name Beaver Stadium Field 'West Shore Field'

In a landmark decision on Monday, Penn State’s Board of Trustees confirmed a $50 million naming deal for the football field at Beaver Stadium.

The field will now be known as "West Shore Field at Beaver Stadium," following a financial contribution from West Shore Home.

The Facilities and Academic Unit Naming Committee approved the 15-year contract, which extends through 2039. The motion subsequently passed the full Board of Trustees by a 22-8 vote. Trustees Ted Brown, Suzan Collins, Daniel Delligatti, Barry Fenchak, Anthony Lubrano, Matt McGloin, Jay Paterno, and Brandon Short voted against the proposal.

Those opposing the proposal wanted the field named "Paterno Field" for the contributions to the University by Joe and Sue Paterno.

West Shore Home, a Mechanicsburg-based home remodeling business owned by Penn State alumni B.J. Werzyn, will make annual payments as part of the agreement. The company has committed to paying $10 million over the next decade, with the remaining $40 million to be distributed over the following 50 years.

The donation is expected to support ongoing improvements and enhancements at Beaver Stadium.
