Frackville Police File DUI Charges Against Mahanoy Plane Man

On February 22, 2025, around 10:50pm, Frackville Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a reckless driver traveling northbound on State Route 61 into the Borough. The vehicle was described as a blue Crysler. Officer located and the vehicle and a traffic stop initiated in the 300 block of S. Lehigh Ave.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Jesus Armando Martinez-Sanchez, 45 of Mahanoy Plane. Martinez-Sanchez displayed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody based on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. Martinez-Sanchez was then transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pottsville for a chemical blood test, which he refused.

Based on the investigation, a criminal complaint will be completed by Ptlm. Bryce Dragna charging Jesus Armando Martinez-Sanchez with the following: Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or a Controlled Substance and Careless Driving

Driver Cited After Two-Vehicle Collision on South Manheim Townshi

On February 24, 2025, at 5:12 PM, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Summer Hill Road, 365 feet east of 7th Street, in South Manheim Township. Jazmine Reyes, 21, from Auburn, PA, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and attempting to make a left turn to proceed east on SR-895. At the same time, an unidentified 16-year-old female from Auburn, PA, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta west on SR-895. 

Reyes failed to safely clear the roadway, resulting in the rear driver side of her vehicle being struck by the front passenger side of the Jetta. 

No injuries were reported at the scene. Both vehicles were towed by Detweiler's Towing. 

Reyes was cited for turning movements and required signals.

Minor Injury Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash on Summer Valley Road in West Brunswick Township

On January 21, 2025, at 10:03 AM, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Summer Valley Road near its intersection with SR 61 in West Brunswick Township. 

Chad D. Barth, 42, from Shoemakersville, PA, was driving a 2022 GMC Sierra and lost control of his vehicle, which struck a 2019 Peterbilt driven by Robert Smalls, 54, from Middletown, DE. 

Barth sustained suspected minor injuries, while Smalls was not injured. 

Both drivers were using lap and shoulder belts. Barth was charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.

PennDOT Plow Truck Sideswipes Vehicle in Eldred Township

On February 15, 2025, at 1:33 PM, a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) plow truck was involved in a crash on Vista Road in Eldred Township. 

John D. Kroh Jr., 63, from Hegins, PA, was driving the 2008 Mack Truck southbound when he lost control and hit a utility pole. The pole was sheared in half, but no injuries were reported. 

Kroh was issued a written warning for roadways laned for traffic.

PennDOT Plow Truck Sideswipes Chevrolet Silverado in Hegins Townhip

On February 15, 2025, at 6:13 PM, a PennDOT plow truck sideswiped a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on W Main Street, 482 feet east of Broad Street, in Hegins Township. 

Simon W. Dallago, 34, from Mar Lin, PA, was driving the 2010 Mack Truck westbound when he collided with the oncoming Silverado driven by Matthew R. Barr, 25, from Hegins, PA. 

The Silverado sustained disabling damage, but no injuries were reported. Dallago was issued a written warning for roadways laned for traffic.

Single-Vehicle Crash on Peach Mountain Road Results in Vehicle Damage

On February 16, 2025, at 3:12 AM, a single-vehicle crash occurred on Peach Mountain Road near its intersection with Mountain Drive in Norwegian Township. 

Alexis E. Paredes, 22, from Pottsville, PA, was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty too fast for road conditions. 

The vehicle crossed over the solid white fog line and struck a traffic sign and a utility pole. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed from the scene by Hammer's Towing. 

Paredes was cited for driving at a safe speed.

Vehicle Hits Pole on North Tremont Street

On January 19, 2025, at 7:59 PM, a single-vehicle crash occurred on North Tremont Street near its intersection with Swatara Road in Reilly Township. Ronald A. Gibson, 24, from Minersville, PA, lost control of his 2018 Ford Explorer, which slid off the right side of the roadway and struck a pole. 

No injuries were reported, and Gibson was cited for driving at a safe speed.

Three-Vehicle Collision on US Highway 209 Injures One

On February 22, 2025, at 9:53 AM, a three-vehicle collision occurred on US Highway 209 in Schuylkill Township. 

Kyle K. Ditzler, 44, from Kingston, PA, was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza. While traveling east on Catawissa Street, he failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck a 2016 Hyundai driven by Linda L. Schew, 58, from Frackville, PA. The impact caused Schew's vehicle to collide with a 2020 Jeep driven by Brandon R. Ream, 32, from Brockton, PA, who was stopped at a stop sign. 

Schew sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Luke's Hospital by Tamaqua EMS, while Ream and his passenger, Kendall A. Foulk, 31, from Brockton, reported no injuries.

Freightliner Jackknifes on I-81 North Amid Snowy Conditions

On February 20, 2025, at 11:33 PM, Navroop Singh, 34, from Jamaica, NY, lost control of his 2024 Freightliner due to snowy road conditions while traveling north on Interstate 81 at Mile Marker 136.6 in Delano Township. 

The vehicle jackknifed and came to a rest in the center median, but no injuries were reported. The truck was towed by JRL Emergency Services.

Mack Truck Overturns on I-81 South, Driver Suffers Minor Injuries

On February 21, 2025, at 3:18 AM, Craig R. Leitheiser, 52, from Mount Wolf, PA, lost control of his 2023 Mack Truck due to snow and wind conditions while traveling south on Interstate 81 at Mile Marker 133.6 in Delano Township. 

The truck crossed the left lane, exited the roadway, and overturned in the median. 

Leitheiser suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS. The left lane of Interstate 81 southbound was closed for approximately two hours.

Driver Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-81 South

On February 2, 2025, at 2:28 AM, Noel Abadia, 43, from Saint Clair, PA, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon southbound on Interstate 81 at Mile Post 131.8 in Mahanoy Township. Abadia lost control of his vehicle, which drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The impact caused the vehicle to travel back across both lanes of traffic and hit a guard rail before coming to a rest partially blocking the right lane. Abadia sustained minor injuries to his wrist but was not transported to a medical facility. He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Hit and Run Incident on Schuylkill Township Causes Property Damage

On January 30, 2025, at 1:09 PM, an unknown driver was traveling south on Catawissa Street in Schuylkill Township, Schuylkill County, PA. The vehicle struck a phone line hanging above the road, pulling the wire down and causing siding damage to a nearby residence. The driver continued south without stopping. There were no reported injuries, and the incident remains under investigation with no leads on the vehicle or driver responsible.
