Margaret “Peg” A. Riegel, 84, of Palo Alto passed away while at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Pottsville.

Born, April 19, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Eva Hughes.

Peg was a 1958 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School.

She was a former member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Summerhill. Peg was also a member of Friedensburg Fire Company #1.

Peg enjoyed playing cards with family friends. She also enjoyed ceramics and baking along with making candy.

Peg was married to Charles T. Frederick, before his passing in 2000.

In addition to her parents and first husband she is also preceded in death by her second husband Wilmer Riegel who passed away 2018. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Louise Clauser.

Peg is survived by her children; Charles Frederick Jr. husband to Ann of Cressona, Randy Frederick husband to Lesa of Friedensburg and Ron Frederick husband to Tracy of Bernville. She is also survived by her sisters; Nancy Clauser of Friedensburg, Phyliss Metz of Schuylkill Haven, Donna Koch of Schuylkill Haven and Lewis Hughes Jr. of Friedensburg. She is also survived by grandchildren; Charles III, Chad, Nicole, Corrine, Gretchen, Mason, and Maegan and four great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven at 10:00 A.M. A viewing will be held from 8:30 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.grabowskifuneralhomes.com

Ada F. Wehry, 97, of Ashland passed away Friday morning March 28th at Green Valley Skilled Nursing in Pottsville.

Born on November 10, 1927 in Ashland she was the daughter of the late Emma (Snyder) and Clarence Lesher.

She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Wehry who passed away in 2006.

Ada last worked at Mitchell’s Bakery as a cake decorator and cleaned houses in addition to raising her children on the family farm.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Ada enjoyed baking, sewing, flowers, gardening and butchering.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; brother Ralph Shoup; brother Roy Shoup; sister Betty Geist; sister Sarah Hornberger; brother Robert Lesher.

Ada is survived by; son Carl Wehry (Edie), Ashland; son Paul Wehry (Joan), Ashland; 7 grandchildren Lisa, Carl, Amy, Paula, Susan, Jill & Michael; 6 great grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Isabella, Josalyn, Luke & Lily; many nieces & nephews.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday morning April 3rd from 9:30-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Services will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev Benjamin Scholl officiating. Burial will follow services at Zions E.C. Cemetery in Pitman.

Jerome Y. Ramos
, 62 of Ashland passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Edenbrook of Greenwood Hill in Pottsville. He was born in the Philippines on October 7, 1962.

Jerome was the son of Jeronimo and Falconeri (Yap) Ramos of Macungie, PA.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Jocelyn Ramos.

In addtion to his parents, Jerome is survived by his brother, Jeremy Ramos, husband of Natasha of Macungie, his brother, Joey Ramos of Macungie, his sister, Jane Nissing, wife of Christopher of Crandall, Texas, his niece, Jadi Ramos, his nephew, Levi Nissing, and his nephew, Micah Nissing.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Donna Marie Soley
, 73 years of age, of Tamaqua passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, as a guest of Maple Shade Meadows in Nesquehoning.

Born March 14, 1952, in Coaldale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Agnes (Hager) Soley.

Donna was a 1970 graduate of Marian Catholic High School and retired from ICI as a supervisor.

She was a member of St. Richard's Catholic Church, Barnesville, where she was a member of the choir.

Donna enjoyed traveling with her family and friends.

Surviving are her sister; Joanne Perilli of Tamaqua and her brother; Michael " Mooch", husband of Christine Soley of Tamaqua.

In addition are her nieces and nephews: Gracia Perilli of Allentown, Anthony, husband of Christine Perilli of Reading, Elissa Coccio of Tamaqua, Michelina, wife of James Munion of Phoenixville, Michael, husband of Ali of Media and Timothy, husband of Theresa of Adamstown.

Also, surviving are five great nieces and six great nephews.

A memorial service will be held, Saturday April 5th at 11 o'clock A.M. at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. A visitation will be held from 10-11am at the funeral home.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Nancy E. Bain, 88, of Donaldson, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, March 28, 2025 at her home.

Born in Pottsville, Tuesday October 6, 1936, a daughter of the late John E. Morgan and Eleanor Morgan Long. She was a graduate of Frailey Township High School.

Nancy served as the tax collector for Frailey Township for 32 years. She was a retired seamstress from the local garment factories. She was a member and the last president of the International League of Garment Workers Union, Local 351. Nancy was also the past secretary for the Schuylkill County Labor Council.

She was a member of the former Donaldson Methodist Church.

Nancy loved doing puzzles and could often be found going to yard sales with her family. Above all else, her family was the center of her world.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Bain; a son-in-law, Gary Hatter; three brothers, Stanley, Bob, and Marlin Morgan.

Surviving are her three children, Sally Hatter, Donaldson, Cindy Miller and her husband Ren, Clark Valley, and Robert Scott Bain, Tremont; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 6:00 PM from the Donaldson Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donaldson Fire Company, 1 W Center Street, Donaldson, PA 17981.

Joyce Sankus
, 83, of Klingerstown, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the home of her son in Klingerstown.

She was born on March, 1, 1942 in Cherry Hill , NJ, a daughter of Thomas and Lillian (Letz)Neild.

Joyce was a graduate of Merchantville NJ High School Class of 1960.

She was a Secretary for Consolidated Freight.

In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald in 2003, also brothers Thomas and Robert Neild, sister, Nancy Crammer.

Joyce is survived by two sons, Dennis Sankus of Klingerstown, Ronald (Patricia) Sankus of Florida. 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces nephews, cousins and friends throughout the valley.

Services will be private.

Ralph William Schwalm
, 77, of Hegins, passed away at Providence Place, Pine Grove.

He was born on May 7, 1947 in Valley View, a son of Dr. Ralph Ivan Schwalm and Inez (Thompson) Schwalm.

Ralph was a graduate of Tri Valley Class of 1965, he then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era attaining the rank of Sgt.

He retired as Maintenance Supervisor for Tri Valley Schools for 25 years, with a total of 35 years employment with the district.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Karl Schwalm, son in law, Robert Mattis, Jr. and grandson, Colby Mattis.

He is survived by his wife Virgina (Miller) Schwalm, to whom he was married for 53 years.

He is also survived by a son, James Schwalm and fiance Albree Boone, Bloomsburg;
daughter, Heather Yerger and spouse, Gabrielle, Hegins;
sister, Helen Ann Bullwinkel and husband Robert, Galveston TX;
granddaughter, Abigail Weigley and husband Adam; 5 great grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.

Burial with military honors will be Friday April 4th at 3pm at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville PA.
