Schuylkill County Under Elevated Risk of Wildfire on Saturday

   

The National Weather Service has issued an alert that conditions will promote an elevated risk of wildfire on Saturday for Schuylkill County as well as nearby counties.

From the National Weather Service:

ELEVATED RISK OF WILDFIRE SPREAD TODAY...

A combination of dry and windy conditions will create an elevated risk of wildfire spread across southeastern PA, mainly south of I-80 and east of I-99. Minimum relative humidity values will dip into the 20s accompanied by wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph.

Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. If dry grasses and tree litter begin to burn, the fire will have the potential to spread rapidly.
