A crash in Washington Township Thursday evening resulted in the death of a man.
Emergency responders were dispatched just after 8:30 p.m. to the area of 235 Flat Hill Road following reports of a crash involving live wires and a tree on top of a vehicle. Upon arrival, the first fire chief on scene confirmed the severity of the accident and the hazards posed by the downed power lines.
By 8:45 p.m., a Schuylkill County Coroner was requested to the scene. Coroner David J. Moylan III later identified the victim as 40-year-old Kyle Cleary. According to Moylan, Cleary succumbed to his injuries at the scene, with the cause of death determined to be internal hemorrhaging related to blunt force trauma to the chest.
A postmortem CT scan was conducted on Friday at the Schuylkill County Forensic Center as part of standard procedures, including routine toxicology testing.
State Police were present at the scene and have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
