Blue Mountain Grad and Pitt Tight End Gavin Bartholomew Drafted in 6th Round of NFL Draft

Blue Mountain High School graduate and University of Pittsburgh standout tight end Gavin Bartholomew is officially headed to the NFL.

Bartholomew was selected in the 6th round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday by the Minnesota Vikings, capping off a remarkable football journey that started right here in Schuylkill County.

A 2021 graduate of Blue Mountain, after playing for the Eagles as #9, Bartholomew made an immediate impact at Pitt, quickly establishing himself as one of the Panthers’ most reliable and athletic tight ends. Over his collegiate career, he totaled 93 receptions for 1,136 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Bartholomew also turned heads at the NFL Combine earlier this year, tying for 4th among all tight ends in the 40-yard dash with an impressive time of 4.62 seconds. His combination of size (6-foot-5, 255 pounds), speed, and football IQ made him a compelling pick for teams seeking a dynamic offensive weapon.

Bartholomew joins a growing list of Schuylkill County athletes making their mark on the national stage.
