The Mahantongo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honored the 2025 Good Citizenship Award recipients from Schuylkill County high schools during a special banquet held at noon on Sunday at the Country Kitchen in Friedensburg.
Each participating high school in the county selected one senior student to receive the DAR Good Citizenship Award, recognizing qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. The honored students submitted applications, transcripts, and letters of reference to the chapter's Good Citizenship Award chairwomen. Those who wished to compete for the chapter’s scholarship also completed a proctored, timed essay.
During the banquet, the chapter announced Anna Schaeffer of Schuylkill Haven Area High School as the winner of the $150 Mahantongo Chapter Good Citizenship Scholarship. Marian Tichy of the Mahantongo Chapter DAR presented Anna with the award. Schaeffer’s application and essay will now move on to the state-level competition.
