Early Morning Disturbance Leads to Arrest of Megan’s Law Offender in Pottsville

A Pottsville man is facing several charges after police say he forced his way into two apartments and attempted to flee by jumping from a window early Monday morning.

According to the Pottsville Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 2:24 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, to an apartment building in the 100 block of North George Street for a report of individuals fighting in the hallway.

Upon arrival, officers found that Sean Dotson, 25, of Pottsville, had allegedly kicked in the door of a second-floor apartment and entered the residence. He was confronted by the tenant before fleeing to the third floor of the building.

Dotson then entered a second apartment and attempted to evade police by jumping from a window onto the roof below, where he was ultimately taken into custody without further incident.

During a search, police say they discovered several items of drug paraphernalia in Dotson’s possession. Further investigation revealed that Dotson had an active bench warrant out of Schuylkill County.

Authorities also confirmed that he is a registered Megan’s Law offender who had failed to update his address as required by law.

Dotson was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on the outstanding warrant. He is expected to be arraigned at a later date.

He is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal Trespass (Felony 2)
  • Failure to Verify Address (Felony 3)
  • Evading Arrest on Foot (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Persistent Disorderly Conduct (Misdemeanor 3)
  • Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanor 3)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
