North Schuylkill School Board Approves $1.4 Million Athletic Field Lighting Project

The North Schuylkill School Board has approved a major lighting upgrade project totaling nearly $1.5 million.

In a vote held Wednesday evening, the board voted 8-1 in favor of a proposal from Keystone Sports Construction to replace the lighting at Spartan Stadium and install new lighting systems at the Dot Seidel Softball Field and the Robert Wetzel Baseball Field. Board Member Randy Lattis cast the lone dissenting vote.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $1,466,853. According to Business Manager Robert Amos, approximately $500,000 of that amount will be covered through grant funding.

Keystone Sports Construction, which has previously completed sports facility projects throughout the region, will handle the installation.

Also during the meeting, a project was approved to pay ATT Sports, Inc. $241,975 to replace the existing track surface at Ghosh Orthodontics Field.

Both the lighting and track surface project contracts were approved through COSTARS.

A third project to repave the stadium area was also approved which comes at a cost of $304,131.35.  Ronnie C. Folk Paving Inc. was awarded the project.

The track resurface and paving project were approved unanimously.

Additionally, during this meeting, the 2025-2026 Budget was proposed which DID NOT include a tax increase.  More on the proposed budget in a separate story.
