PLAY BALL! Ashland Little League Opens 2025 Season with Parade and Ceremony

Ashland Little League officially kicked off its 2025 season on Saturday, April 5, beginning the day with its traditional opening day parade.

The parade concluded at the Little League field near Eureka Park, where the league held its annual opening ceremony.

During the event, the 2024 8-10 Year Old All-Star team was recognized for winning both the District 24 and Section 3 Championships last season.

The presentation of the Mark Trautman Sportsmanship Award, given annually to a 12-year-old graduating player who best exemplifies character, integrity, and sportsmanship. The recipient is selected by fellow league players, with no input from coaches, parents, or other adults. This year’s honoree was Drew Wartman.

The ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Sueann Salukas Bann, who played a key role in designing and launching the league's concession stand, which was built around 1999. Continuing the family legacy, her son Stephen is now coaching the Little League Pirates, and her 9-year-old grandson Owen had the honor of catching the first pitch.
