The 2025 April Students of the Month of the Pottsville Rotary Club were honored at the Rotary Club weekly meeting on Wednesday, April 2, at Vito’s Coal Fired Restaurant in St. Clair.

MINERSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL
Alexis MooreAlexis Moore is the daughter of Carol Moore, Llewellyn. Her school activities include Vice President of STEM, Vice President of Yearbook Club, member of Student Council, National Honors Society, Pep Club, and Track team. In the community, she volunteers at the Orwigsburg Nursing Center, Little League Concession stand, American Red Cross Blood Drive and various Student Council events.
After graduation, Alexis plans to continue her education at the Pennsylvania College of Technology for Radiography.
Kolin LongKolin Long is the son of Ashley and David Shiffer, Primrose and Dustin Long, Lebanon. His school activities include the cooperative education program through the Schuylkill Technology Center. He is a member of the Minersville Cross Country and Track & Field teams. In the community, Kolin volunteers with Youth Track, the Branchdale Fire House, and is a videographer for a local sports team. He also assisted with the construction of the MAHS courtyard gazebo and community plumbing projects.
After graduation, Kolin plans to attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to study Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
POTTSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL
Tessa BartashusTessa Bartashus is the daughter of Kyle and Virginia Bartashus, New Philadelphia. Her school activities include Volleyball, National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. In the community, Tessa was an Altar server, volunteered with roadside clean-up and fixed New Philadelphia’s Christmas lights.
After graduation, she plans to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. She would like to start with a research-based job in neuroscience and save up for graduate school to become a neurologist or neuroradiologist.
Elena HoldenElena Holden is the daughter of Sean and Lynn Holden, Pottsville. Her school activities include Key Club, Student Council, AID, Drama Club Stage Crew, National Honors Society and French National Honors Society. In the community, Elena was a volunteer with Key Club and Alpha Iota Delta (AID). She also completed volunteer work at the JFK Pool.
After graduation, she plans to continue her education to pursue a career in law and become a criminal defense attorney.
NATIVITY HIGH SCHOOL
Andrew VerchickAndrew Verchick is the son of Greg and Dale Verchick, Pottsville. His school activities include Football, Baseball, Math Club and Chess Club. He volunteers at St. Patrick’s parish and at Nativity events.
After graduation, Andrew plans to attend King’s College to play football and major in Business Management. His goal is to work in the NFL business department.
Matthew Wojciechowsky is the son of Richard and Heather Wojciechowsky, Pottsville. His school activities are soccer and golf. He volunteers with Schuylkill Hope Center, Salvation Army and Geisinger Pottsville Hospital.
After graduation he plans to attend Elizabethtown College for Occupational Therapy with minors in Coaching and Medical Humanities. His goal is to become an Occupational Therapist.
