Minor Crash Reported at Coney Island Parking Lot in Pottsville

Pottsville – A minor vehicle accident occurred late Monday morning in the parking lot of Coney Island, with no reported injuries, according to Pottsville Police.

Authorities stated that the incident took place on March 31, 2025, at approximately 11:32 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a two-vehicle collision in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, police spoke with a 36-year-old female driver from Pottsville. She reported that she had been traveling west on West Market Street and was in the process of making a right-hand turn into the Coney Island parking lot when the crash occurred.

According to the police report, Jose Rodriguez, 31, also of Pottsville, was driving behind the female driver, traveling in the same direction. As she attempted to turn right into the lot, Rodriguez reportedly tried to pass her on the right, leading to a collision between the two vehicles.

Rodriguez’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and had to be towed from the scene, while the other driver’s vehicle was deemed drivable with only minor damage.

Deer Collision in East Brunswick Township

On March 18, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Earl T. Weller, a 64-year-old resident of New Ringgold, PA, was driving his 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage westbound on Summer Valley Road in East Brunswick Township. 

A deer reported entered the roadway, resulting in a collision. 

Weller's vehicle sustained damage but came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder. 

Weller was wearing his seatbelt and reported no injuries. The scene did not require emergency medical services.

Guide Rail Collision on Interstate 81

On March 27, 2025, at 2:44 p.m., Robert W. Randall, a 79-year-old Herndon resident, encountered a close call while driving his 2016 Chevrolet CK 2500 on I-81 Northbound in Mahanoy Township. 

A truck tractor and semi-trailer veered into Randall's lane, prompting him to swerve to avoid a collision. 

However, this maneuver caused his vehicle to strike a guide rail along the west side of the road. 

No injuries were reported, and the driver was not transported for medical care.

Middleport Borough Crash

On March 27, at approximately 8:27 p.m., Brent Miklesavage, a 56-year-old Middleport resident, drove his 2013 Toyota Corolla northbound on Union Street in Middleport Borough. 

The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, left the roadway, and collided head-on with a tree along the roadside. Miklesavage sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment. 

Signs of alcohol impairment were observed, and he is under investigation for suspected DUI.

East Union Township Crash

In the early hours of March 28, 2025, at 12:51 a.m., Amanda J. Morrison, a 52-year-old Sheppton resident, was driving her 2014 Scion FRS northbound on School House Road in East Union Township.

Morrison swerved to avoid a deer that had entered the roadway but lost control, causing her vehicle to veer off the road and hit a tree. 

Morrison was unharmed, and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

Rear-End Crash on Interstate Ramp in Kline Township

On March 28, 2025, at 7:17 a.m., Aaron Dorneman, a 27-year-old resident of Tamaqua, collided with the rear of Frank Sanders' vehicle while both were on the acceleration lane of the Exit #138 ramp to I-81 Northbound in Kline Township. 

Dorneman’s 2018 Ford Escape failed to maintain a safe following distance, resulting in a rear-end collision with Sanders' 2019 Jeep Cherokee, which had slowed due to traffic. 

Neither driver sustained injuries, but Dorneman’s vehicle required towing, and he was cited for following too closely.

Hit-and-Run Incident in Ryan Township

At 10:47 a.m. on March 27, 2025, a hit-and-run occurred on Skyline Drive in Ryan Township. 

A Hyundai Elantra attempted to pass a 2020 GMC Sierra, driven by a 41-year-old Frackville resident, while traveling south. 

The Hyundai sideswiped the Sierra, hitting the driver’s side door and front fender, before fleeing the scene. 

Lunger was unharmed and provided authorities with a license plate number for the suspect vehicle, described as a gold sedan.  The incident is still under investigation.
