Schuylkill County Joins National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Set for Saturday

     


Schuylkill County Sheriff Joe Groody, Schuylkill County Drug and Alcohol and local Law Enforcement have announced they are participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, on Saturday April 26th, 2025, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

The following locations will be collection sites around Schuylkill County:
  1. Ashland Police Department: 401 South 18th Street Ashland
  2. Butler Township Police Department: 211 Broad Street Ashland
  3. Frackville Police Department: 42 South Center Street, Frackville
  4. Foster Township Police Department:  1540 Sunbury Road, Pottsville
  5. Lehigh Valley Hospital East:  700 East Norwegian Street, Pottsville
  6. Mahanoy City Police Department: 239 East Pine Street, Mahanoy City
  7. Mechanicsville Police Department:  301 First Second Street, Port Carbon
  8. Minersville Police Department: 15 North Delaware Avenue, Minersville
  9. Orwigsburg Police Department: 209 North Warren Street, Orwigsburg
  10. Palo Alto police Department: 142 East Bacon Street, Palo Alto
  11. Pine Grove Police Department: One Snyder Drive, Pine Grove
  12. Port Carbon Police Department: 90 Washington Street, Port Carbon
  13. Pottsville Police Department:  401 North Center Street, Pottsville

This is a one day event that is free of charge and open to everyone. The program is anonymous. You are encouraged to remove your personal information from the prescription labels. Participants may dispose of medication in its' original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box.

All expired or unwanted controlled, non-controlled and over the counter medicines are accepted. Also liquid products, such as cough syrup should remain sealed in their original plastic container. 

The following items are NOT accepted: glass containers, intra-venous solutions, injectables, syringes and illegal substances such as marijuana or methamphetamines.
