Margaret F. Ughes, 82, of Pottsville, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Edenbrook of Greenwood Hill Nursing Home in Pottsville.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Ughes of Pottsville.

Margaret will have a private graveside service at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Port Carbon.

James H. Evans Funeral Home, Inc., St. Clair, is entrusted with arrangements.

Donald W. Zimmerman, 89, of Severna Park, MD, passed away Saturday, April 12, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD.

Born May 25, 1935, in Donaldson, PA, he was the son of the late William M. and Gladys I. Klinger Zimmerman.

Donald attended Frailey High School in Donaldson, PA. He studied at Kutztown State Teachers College in PA and Union College in Schenectady, NY, and earned a Master of Business Administration at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

Donald began his career as a teacher and later worked for Joseph E. Seagram and Sons in Relay, MD. He started his career with Seagram’s as a chemist and retired as a corporate executive.

He belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie, MD, where he taught Bible classes and sang in the choir. He was also a member of Christ Little Tulpehocken Church in Bernville, PA.

Donald supported various civic organizations and was a member of Chartwell Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing billiards, chess, and cards.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, who passed away in 2019; his sister, Nancy (Zimmerman) Caraker; his brother, Ira “Bud” Zimmerman; and his aunt, Merle E. Foose.

He is survived by his children: Donna E. Tscharner, wife of Chris G.; Donald W. Zimmerman, Jr., husband to Roberta E.; and Wesley P. Zimmerman, husband to Beth A., all of Severna Park, MD. He is also survived by his brothers, Warren Zimmerman and Leroy Zimmerman; grandchildren, Mark D. Wharton and Whitney B. Zimmerman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Trudy A. Jackson
, 79, of Juniper Court, Pine Grove, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 in the Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born on September 28, 1945 in Madison, WI, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth Tredennick Williams.

She was a graduate of Mt. Penn High School, Reading.

Trudy worked as a Secretary.

She loved Elvis and the highlights of her life were having an Elvis impersonator for her birthday and her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a brother, Thomas Williams.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy and husband Donald Marks Jr. of Hegins, Dana and husband Robert Oravitz, Sr. of Minersville; a son, Daniel and wife Leslie Smith of Oklahoma City; 8 grandchildren, Aaryn Strunk, Richard Mogel, Angela Ginter, Zachary Smith, Stefan Smith, Robert Oravitz, Jr., Noah Oravitz, Annabelle Oravitz; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen and husband Trygve Kleppinger of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Walter Williams, Jr. of Orlando, FL; nieces and nephews.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Char-Will Kennels, 2 E. Railroad Ave., New Ringgold, Pa. 17960 in her memory.

Geraldine F Masser
, age 92, of Valley View, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Providence Place, Pottsville.

She was born on Sunday, October 23, 1932, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Grant F Herring and the late Alma J (Zimmerman) Herring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterman E Masser in 2012, and by a son, Kim L Masser in 1980.

She is a survived by a son, Keith E Masser and his wife Helen of Sacramento; two daughters, Cynthia S Bambara and her husband Michael of Frostburg, MD, and Kay L Chervanik and her husband Charles of Tallahassee, FL; six grandchildren, David Masser, Julie Ballay, Timothy Bambara, Thomas Bambara, Kyle Chervanik, and Carly Chervanik; five great-grandchildren, Samantha Masser, Maxwell Masser, Adelle Ballay, Gavin Ballay, and Leonardo Bambara; two sisters, Dolores Hepler and Sandra Rothermel.

Gerri was a 1950 graduate of the former Hegins Township High School. She was married for 62 years to Sterman Masser. Early in their marriage they worked side by side on the Masser family farm in Leck Kill. In 1967, they moved to Valley View to continue farming in Sacramento. Together they established Sterman Masser Inc, a family farm corporation, in 1970 where she served as Secretary Treasurer. Their legacy of Sterman Masser Inc is continuing on through their grandchildren.
Sterman and Gerri were avid road travelers, traveling the United States and flying to the Bahamas. Gerri loved her “camp” in Lycoming County. She loved to snowmobile and spent many weekends there with friends and family.
Gerri was a wonderful cook and often made her famous apple pies to share with friends and farm employees. She also loved to garden and had a green thumb when planting her flowers. Gerri was an excellent housekeeper and decorator. She had a knack for making any place where she lived look lovely.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, PA on Saturday April 19th at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Jacob's Cemetery, Pitman.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to the Kim L. Masser Memorial Scholarship for the College of Agricultural Sciences. Charles E. Reber, 84, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Sunday, April 13th, at his residence.

Born in Schuylkill Haven on August 20, 1940, he was a son of the late Robert & Emma (Parnell) Reber.

Following high school graduation, Charles served in the U.S. Navy.

He was employed as a machinist with Norfolk Southern Railroad.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sons: Robert Charles Reber, & Daniel Paul Reber, and siblings: Jay, Robert, & Carol.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Meghan Hall, grandsons: Mason, & Connor Reber, and siblings: Dale Reber, & Sue Guldin.

Interment service will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at 11 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
