Brian David Spotts, 55, of Pottsville, passed away unexpectedly on April 11th, 2025, at his home.

Born and raised in Pottsville, Brian was the son of the late Francis and Lucille (Wachter) Spotts. He was a 1989 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Throughout his life, Brian contributed to his community in many ways including time spent as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. His most impactful contributions came from the time and dedication he gave to Crimson Tide sports including soccer, softball, basketball and football. With his attention to detail, good nature and quiet smile, Brian touched the lives of his family, friends, fellow coaches and student athletes. He was honest, reliable, encouraging and always ready with friendly conversation. He will be dearly missed at home, along the sidelines and throughout Pottsville.

Brian is survived by a brother, Paul Spotts (Abby), sister, Karen Galen, nephews, Eli, Jonah and Ryan, nieces, Britney and Kaci as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held at a later date. Friends are asked to wear Crimson Tide Colors. ROLL TIDE!

Marie B. Vinski
, 84 of Gilberton, PA., passed away on April 12, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late Bernard V. Vinski, who passed away in 2016. Born in Shenandoah, PA., she was the daughter of the late Bryan and Mary (Zamonsky) Snarski. Prior to retirement she was a cook at Rest Haven Nursing home, Schuylkill Haven, PA.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Frackville, and the Frackville Seniors. Past memberships include Gilberton Fire Co. Ladies Aux. and Our Lady of Siluva Aux. as well as Treasurer of the PTO Mahanoy Area School District. 

 She was predeceased by sisters, Theresa Dawe and Josephine Strenchock. 

Surviving are her children, Bryan Vinski, Morea, PA, Lou Ann wife of Ronald Knittle, Barnesville, PA, Jeanette wife of Joseph Marteusz Middleport, PA , Laura wife of Donny Smith, Fallentimber, PA; 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. 

 A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 49 N Line St., Frackville, PA. Rev. Guiseppe Esposito, Officiating. Family and friends will be received from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 49 N. Line St., Frackville, PA. 17931 or to the Frackville Senior Center, 130 E. Frack St., Frackville, PA. 17931.

Allen F. "Pop" Herring, 90, of Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., Pottsville, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 in Seton Manor Nursing Home, Orwigsburg.

Born on January 4, 1935 in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Allen J. and Martha E. Jamison Herring.

He was a 1953 graduate of Pine Grove High School.

Allen was a coal miner, farmer and lastly a yard supervisor for 35 years at his family's business, MRD Lumber.

He was a member of St. Paul's UCC, Summer Hill. He had been a long time member of the Friedensburg Fish and Game and the Roedersville Game and Fish.

Allen loved working, hunting, butchering, helping people, and his family. He would do anything for anyone who asked and what people remembered most was his laughter. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, quoites and shooting darts.

Preceding him in death were a son, Dean Herring; two brothers, Delton Herring and Sterling Herring; three sisters, Roma Herring, Fern Roeder and Josephine Kosack Campbell.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Mary Neidlinger Herring; two sons, Wayne and wife Debbie Herring of Pottsville, Mark and wife Yvonne Herring of New Ringgold; nine grandchildren, Wayne Herring Jr, whom Allen and Mary raised, Linda Pikulin, Laura Lee Hughes, Leslie Herring, Christopher Herring, Michael Herring, Leanne Kemmerling, Joshua Herring and Casey Herring; 23 great grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Herring of Cressona; four sisters, Ardith Moyer of Schuylkill Haven, Lucille Reichert of Pine Grove; Reba Taylor of Harrisburg and Janice Arnold of Mechanicsburg; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M., at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1235 Summer Hill Rd., Auburn with Pastor Ken McDowell officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will follow in Summer Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. Joseph Center for Special Learning, 302 Randel St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972 or online at stjosephctr.com in his memory.

Lester E "Les" Donmoyer
, age 83, of Tremont, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born on Sunday, April 12, 1942, in Ravine, a son of the late Roy E Donmoyer and the late Grace L (Holley) Donmoyer.

Les attended the former Porter Tower High School.

He worked at Penn Dye, Pine Grove, until his retirement.

Les was a marshal arts instructor for over thirty years. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by an infant brother, Richard Donmoyer.

He is survived by his wife Fern R (Rothermel) Donmoyer, to whom he was married for 63 years.

He is also survived by a son, Tim E (Debbie) Donmoyer of Primrose; a daughter, Tina M (William) Fetterolf of Tremont; five grandsons, Ryan (LeAnn) Reightler of Tremont, Jamie (Katie) Reightler of Tremont, T.J. (Kelsey) Donmoyer of Sunbury, Mark (Nicole) Purcell of New Ringgold, and Billy Fetterolf, Jr of Virginia; three granddaughters, Heather Pritiskutch of Tremont, Jessie (Harry) Brown of Llewellyn, and Jenny (Kyle) Mack of Tremont; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Donmoyer of Tremont and Roy (Donna) Donmoyer of Las Cruces, NM; and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, Ravine.

Melissa J Smith,
age 59, of Duncannon, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at her residence.

She was born on Saturday, September 11, 1965, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late William J Messner and the late Nancy J (Klinger) Messner.

She was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School and a graduate of the McCann School of Business Medical Assistant Program, Pottsville.

Melissa enjoyed crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, William Messner..

She is survived by her companion, Scott A. Sitlinger of Duncannon and by a daughter, Leah M Smith of Elmira, NY.

As per her request, there will be no services.
