Schuylkill County Schools Earn Awards Through the "What' So Cool About Manufacturing?" Competition

 

On April 1st, 2025, the "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?" awards were presented to the winners, including some from Schuylkill County.


Presented by Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC), the Student Video Contest: “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” (WSCM) gave students in Berks and Schuylkill Counties the opportunity to network with local manufacturers as well as gain new perspectives, record their experiences and present them in an educational and “cool” way through documentary video production. The program was created to generate excitement that draws students towards considering manufacturing career paths to create a 21st century workforce.

The 2025 Winners are as follows in each category:
  • Outstanding Overall Program:  Conrad Weiser (Alcon)
  • Viewers Choice:  Mahanoy Area (Hydro)
  • Outstanding Videography:  Schuylkill Haven Area (Zimmerman Shoes by Kepner Scott Shoe Co.)
  • Outstanding Creativity:  Wilson West (Eagle Materials, Inc.)
  • Outstanding Editing:  Boyertown West (Morgan Truck Body)
  • Outstanding Cool:  Schuylkill Valley (EasyPak)
  • Outstanding Team Spirit:  Daniel Boone (PhytogenX, Inc.)
  • Outstanding Educational Value:  Twin Valley (PtP Spanco, Inc.)
  • Best CTE Story:  Kutztown Area (Omnitech Automation, Inc.)
  • Outstanding Outreach Plan:  D.H.H. Lengel (Blaschak Anthracite)
  • Outstanding Brand Placement:  Tamaqua Area (Hexcel Corporation)
  • Outstanding Career Pathway:  Governor Mifflin (Carpenter Technology Corporation)
Conrad Weiser, Boyertown West, Mahanoy Area, and D.H.H. Lengel will move onto the State competition.

Also participating in the contest from Schuylkill County were North Schuylkill, Pine Grove,  Shenandoah Valley, Minersville Area, and Blue Mountain.
