A Schuylkill Haven man is behind bars after a string of alleged crimes that spanned multiple townships, damaged property, and resulted in injuries to two state troopers.
Daniel Joseph Bashore, 42, is facing 23 criminal charges after authorities say he stole a utility truck, attempted to break into two properties, and violently resisted arrest on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
According to court documents, Bashore allegedly stole a white 2005 Freightliner utility truck from a property on East Main Street in North Manheim Township. He then drove the vehicle to a residence on Long Run Road in Wayne Township, where police say he drove the truck onto the front lawn and began kicking the front door in an attempt to break in. When he was unsuccessful, he canvassed the property looking for another entry point.
The homeowner, reportedly confronted the suspect with a shotgun, causing him to flee in the stolen truck.
From there, the defendant allegedly drove to a nearby business at 1176 Long Run Road, ramming the bay door with the truck in another failed attempt to gain entry. Authorities say the damage to both properties exceeded $7,000.
Pennsylvania State Police Troopers began canvassing the area following the report. The stolen truck was later located at 12 Green Tree Drive in West Brunswick Township where it was found it parked in the wrong direction in the eastbound lane with Bashore sitting in the driver's seat.
When troopers attempted to arrest Bashore, he allegedly refused to follow commands, resisted arrest, and had to be taken to the ground. Despite multiple taser drive stuns administered by Troopers, Bashore continued to resist before finally being subdued.
Two troopers sustained injuries during the altercation.
Troopers suspected Bashore was under the influence of a controlled substance. He consented to a blood draw, which was conducted at Lehigh Valley–Schuylkill East hospital before he was transported to the Schuylkill Haven barracks.
Bashore is charged with multiple felonies, including:
- Two counts of Aggravated Assault on law enforcement officers
- Assault of Law Enforcement Officer
- Simple Assault
- Criminal Attempt - Burglary (two counts)
- Criminal Mischief
- Receiving Stolen Property
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
