State Police Identify Driver Who Fled on I-81 in Schuylkill County; Wanted on Burglary Charges

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are searching for a man who fled from a high-speed traffic stop on Interstate 81 late last month.

The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Friday, March 21, when troopers attempted to stop a blue Subaru Impreza for speeding on I-81 southbound in Delano Township, Schuylkill County. The driver refused to pull over, accelerating to speeds over 100 mph and dangerously weaving through traffic by passing vehicles on the shoulder, according to police.

The vehicle, bearing Pennsylvania registration LYV9976, briefly exited the highway and entered Mahanoy City before successfully evading law enforcement.

Following an investigation, State Police have identified the driver as David Brannigan, 43, of Hanover Township. Authorities believe Brannigan is currently residing in Shamokin. In addition to fleeing the traffic stop, Brannigan is wanted on an outstanding warrant connected to a 2022 burglary case in Luzerne County.

State Police are urging anyone with information on Brannigan’s whereabouts to contact the Frackville barracks at (570) 874-5300. All tips will be handled confidentially.
