Penn State Schuylkill has announced the promotion of Travis Williams to assistant director of admissions.
A longstanding and respected member of the campus community, Williams has been part of the Schuylkill family since 2007, when he first joined as interim head coach of the men’s basketball team.
Since then, his commitment to students and the University has shaped a remarkable career rooted in mentorship, outreach, and student success. In 2015, Williams transitioned to a full-time role in the admissions office, where his ability to build connections with prospective students, their families, and the broader community quickly made an impact.
Throughout his tenure, Williams has led initiatives including the conditional admissions process, as well as recruitment efforts and student support programs like CSP, EPIC, and PASSS. He’s also served on numerous search committees and helped spearhead outreach through programs such as the Roadmap to College series and local radio campaigns.
"Travis has been a tremendous colleague,” said Gianna Agnello-Porambo, director of admissions. “He has a passion for working with students and helping them find their fit. For the last nine and a half years, I have watched him help so many students begin their Penn State journey and find their own success. He takes the time to get to know students, listen to them, and be in their corner when they are here. I look forward to seeing him thrive in this much-deserved new leadership role.”
In his new position, Williams will continue working directly with students and families, while also leading out-of-state recruitment and serving as the lead presenter at admissions events. His leadership and experience will further support Penn State Schuylkill’s mission of providing students with meaningful opportunities for academic and personal growth.
Reflecting on the promotion, Williams shared, “It is truly an honor to be recognized and respected within both the campus community and the wider University. I am excited to continue connecting Penn State University with families and communities for years to come, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on how we can best support your needs on campus and beyond.”
