Two Schuylkill County men are behind bars after Shenandoah Police say they sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant earlier this year.
Mark Thompson, 50, of Ashland, and Darious Felder, 34, of Shenandoah, were arrested following separate investigations involving controlled drug purchases in the borough.
Police said that in January and March, they worked with a confidential informant and an FBI special agent to set up two controlled purchases from Felder. In January, the informant met Felder near Center and Jardin streets for a drug exchange. In March, Felder and the informant met again, traveled to a nearby residence, and completed another transaction minutes later. Laboratory tests confirmed the substance bought during both operations was methamphetamine.
Earlier this month, Shenandoah Police organized another controlled purchase, this time from Thompson. Investigators said Thompson entered a residence in the borough, returned shortly afterward, and handed over methamphetamine to the informant.
As a result of the investigations, both men were charged and committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
Thompson faces one count of felony manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was denied bail after a judge ruled that "no amount of bail or conditions can ensure community safety," court records state.
Felder is charged with two counts of felony manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver. His bail was set at $100,000 cash; unable to post it, he also remains incarcerated.
Both men are scheduled to appear for preliminary hearings at 11:15 a.m. May 1 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.
