Lebanon County Tanker Truck Accident Closes Interstate 81 Thursday Afternoon

According to Pennlive.com,  an accident involving a tanker truck and PennDot equipment closed Interstate 81 Southbound at Mile Marker 100 (Pine Grove)  and also northbound at Exit 90 Thursday Afternoon.

A female driver was taken to the hospital around 3 PM today (Thursday, May 15, 2014) after crashing her car into a parked car on Lafayette Street (at the intersection of North Lehigh Street) in Tamaqua.

PennDot Announces New Traffic Patterns on Route 61 Through Schuylkill Haven

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Wednesday afternoon the safety improvement project on Route 61 between Route 183/Douglass Drive and University Drive in the Borough of Schuylkill Haven and North Manheim Township in Schuylkill County is moving forward.

Garage Fire Closes Part of Route 61

Just after midnight, a garage fire closed Route 61 south for a short time while crews put out the fire.

The garage was located across Route 61 from Sands Ford.

Pottsville fire put out the blaze while Pottsville Fire Police closed Route 61.

No other information is available at this time.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced new traffic patterns for Route 61 near Pottsville starting Monday.

Governor Corbett Supports Medical Marijuana Extract for Children With Seizures

News out of Harrisburg,  Gov. Tom Corbett has changed his position on medical marijuana and is backing the legalization of a marijuana extract to treat severe seizures in children

Corbett had been under pressure from parents who believe the oil extract, called cannabidiol, can save the lives of their seizure-wracked children. Democrats running to challenge Corbett in the fall election also favor the legalization of medical marijuana.

Corbett's office confirmed to the Associated Press on Thursday of his decision.

Investigation into Death in Frackville Monday Morning

The Republican Herald is reporting this morning that there is an investigation into a death in West Mahanoy Township Monday morning.

Reports are the investigation is taking place at 256 Wylam St.

UPDATE:  A suspect is reportedly in custody.  The victim was a 50 year old male.

We will share more information as it becomes available.

Update:  WNEP is reporting that Thomas Petrousky is the man in custody.  He is said to have been the roommate of the 50 year old who was found dead.  Petrousky was taken into custody after acting strange and trying to get onto a neighbors property.
