UPDATE: Photo Released of Man Wanted for Assault and Fleeing Police Monday Evening
A photo has been released of a man wanted for an Monday evening incident involving an assault and fleeing police.
On Monday, Pennsylvania State Police from Schuylkill Haven and Hamburg responded to the Landingville Boat Dock, 350 Meadow Drive South Manheim Twp. around 11:30pm, for an active domestic dispute between Edwin Montero-Cartagena, 26, of Pottsville and his girlfriend.
Police say an argument ensued and Montero-Cartagena began to punch the victim numerous times and stabbed her on the top of the head with an unknown sharp object.
Montero-Cartagena was also choking the victim with a small chain.
As Troopers from Hamburg arrived on scene and shined their spotlight on Montero-Cartagena’s vehicle, he fled the scene.
During the pursuit north on SR 61, Montero-Cartagena, at one point, was driving north in the southbound lanes of SR 61.
Montero-Cartagena then proceeded to drive through Palo Alto Borough and at the end of Bacon Street, Montero-Cartagena drove onto a dirt road, got the vehicle stuck and fled the scene on foot.
Various other local departments and Pennsylvania State Police from Schuylkil Haven arrived on scene and searched the area with negative results.
An arrest warrant for Montero-Cartagena was obtained.
